Yunnan Baiyao in veterinary medicine

Yunnan Baiyao in veterinary medicine

Yunnan Baiyao was officially formulated and named in 1902, but the main herbs in it are being used for thousands of years. In ancient times, it was used to stop bleeding from combat injuries. More recently, in the human medical literature, its oral use has been to decrease the preoperative need for blood transfusions, and for ulcerative gastrointestinal disease. In regular households in China and some Asian countries, Yunnan Baiyao served as a first aid medicine used externally. Its name means “The white medicine from Yunnan province.”

In veterinary medicine Yunnan Baiyao has been shown to increase blood coagulation in 8 healthy research beagle dogs, and 18 client-owned, healthy dogs of various breeds that weighed less than 30 pounds. More and more veterinarians are recommending this medication for dogs and cats.

It is most used for cancer in pets.  Yunnan Baiyao for dogs with cancer may sound counter-initiative, but in certain cases, it is really useful.

Some canine cancers are associated with bleeding, like internal hemangiosarcomas. Hemangiosarcomas are tumors that occur in the linings of the blood vessels, this causes internal bleeding. Other types of cancers can bleed too. For example, sometimes chemotherapy drugs increase bleeding tendencies. Sometimes tumors rupture and bleed out. This is when Yunnan Baiyao come in handy. It’s a small capsule that can be given at home.

Studies had deemed it safe to use. How does it work? There is no exact answer yet.

We had many customers who order Yunnan Baiyao for solely this purpose. The feed back is positive.

Keep in mind that this remedy is not fully understood, and there are some veterinarians who just don’t think using it is worth it. But there are plenty who disagree and feel that as long as it’s safe, using it in serious cases is warranted.

For Animal use

Yunnan Baiyao Capsules should be used only after consultation and in cooperation with your dog’s veterinarian.

General guidelines:

For dogs under 10 lbs, give 1 capsule by mouth one time a day.

For dogs from 10 to 30 lbs, give 1 capsule by mouth two times a day.

For dogs above 30 but less than 60 lbs, give 2 capsules two times a day.

For dogs above 60 lbs, give 2 capsules three times a day.

For cats refer to instructions above based on weight.

Best to give on alternating days, or for a 5-day on, 5-day off cycle that repeats.

Covid continues to disrupt the supply chain

Covid continues to disrupt the supply chain

We have been out of the AcuStar needles, and some popular herbal formulas for a while now. We want our valued customers to be aware of what is happening within the supply chain.

Over the past year, various situations have affected the shipping time and prices of goods.

Ocean and air freight issues are increasing due to high, non-stop demands
Asia and the United States are both facing high import volumes and congestion at their ports as global trade economies begin to reopen. China’s ports are up 14.5% in volume and the Port of Los Angeles saw a 47% increase in container traffic compared to last year. These high levels of congestion and traffic increase shipping time. Shipment that would normally take four weeks to ship can now take up to nine weeks, causing a shortage in dock workers, ships, and trucks. The rise in demand means the rise in container rates, which ultimately means the rise in shipping costs. Ocean freights are very unreliable and expensive at this point.

Trucking rates have been steadily climbing since last year
Due to Covid regulations, consumer demand, and a shortage of drivers, there has been a truck shortage. High demand and a shortage of trucks are resulting in higher shipping costs that are not expected to clear up until next year.

Covid lockdowns, saturated ports, and lack of labor are all resulting in higher shipping costs. Experts are expecting these high shipping costs to continue and will not be going down anytime soon. Although we cannot control these factors, there are a few things our customers can do to best navigate this time. Be sure place your orders ahead of time and allow ample time for shipping. Subscribe to our email list so that we will notify you instantly once the item is in stock.

Due to Covid-19, we anticipate shipping delays.

While we are as committed as ever to being a part of healthy lifestyles, we also understand that we are in unprecedented times. We are doing our best to maintain our shipping schedules, but we anticipate there may be delays in order processing and shipping. Orders are processed Monday through Friday. Due to COVID-19 safety precautions in our warehouse, orders may take longer to process. We use FedEx, USPS and various truck companies as our freight carrier, and all of which have their own Covid-19 policies and procedures. We are grateful that these front line workers are providing their service in this dangerous time. We understand that the freight carriers need to take precautions to keep their employees safe,  and we anticipate a delay in shipping.

Please know that processing and shipping may take longer than normal. We provide the available tracking information to all of our customers. Please check your tracking information with the shipping company to get the expected delivery date.

Thank you for your business, and thank you for your patients. We are all in this together.
